Transforming live through design in DFW since 2009
About us
Who and What Are We? Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit group of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. We provide and install home interiors for families that include furnishings and art, bedding and kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry. Our mission is to help families escape poverty and homelessness through design. One household at a time. Why do we do what we do? If we can change a person’s surroundings, we can change their outlook on life. Exposing children (especially) to a nurturing home environment, that includes good design and art, can inspire a standard of living that will carry-over to future generations. Exposing parents to this same environment will allow them to see the positive impact it has on their family; inspiring them to maintain a standard of living they can be proud of and thrive in. The People We Help: The families we help are dedicated to changing their lives by learning to become self-sufficient. These families will reside in single-family homes and apartments that are provided by social service agencies or attained with the assistance of such agencies. Families must be able to remain in these homes for at least one year so they have the opportunity to absorb the impact of their environment. We find our families by working with existing social service organizations that have programs in place to help struggling families attain self sufficiency. Agencies must have accountability- based programs that address housing, education, career, finance, life skills and children’s needs. Organizations that are approved by our board may nominate families in need.

Students deserve an environment to become resilient. That's why we were eager to work with North Dallas High School. We helped design the school's community meeting room and homeless student center space to make them beautiful and functional. See the difference we made here. #Education #TexasSchools https://bit.ly/3U1f5lu

Homelessness impacts not only one person but an entire community. Increases in homelessness indicate narrowing job opportunities and a lack of healthcare resources. It's time that we stop talking and act to start change. #RedefineHomelesness https://bit.ly/3WWyaqg

The word charity is a double-edged sword. While charity signifies your helping those in need, it also indicates a forced handout. Click this link to read Ashley Sharp's article about the language surrounding nonprofits. #Nonprofit #Charity https://bit.ly/3rSZffV

Texas has the fifth-highest homelessness rate in the United States. About 4,410 unhoused individuals live in Dallas. So while homelessness is a distant idea for some, it's a reality for many others. #Breakthestigma #Homelessness https://bit.ly/3WWyaqg
