As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in the Emerald Isle, yesterday our CEO Bob Pragada and Ireland’s Minister for Finance, Michael McGrath TD, officially opened our new state-of-the-art office in Sandyford, Dublin, alongside clients, partners and employees. And today, we’re furthering our investment in the country with 100 new jobs to advance our position as the number one provider of end-to-end services to the critical Life Sciences and semiconductor sectors in Ireland and to support the development of critical national infrastructure. When our story in Ireland began in 1974 with the IDA Ireland’s support, the Irish economy was accompanied by the first wave of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Since then, we’ve played a major role in the development of Ireland as a center of excellence for complex advanced manufacturing and delivered more than $54 billion (€50 billion) worth of vital infrastructure projects for clients in Ireland. “Give me liberty or give me a seawall!” 🗽 While that quote might not be historically accurate, #OurJacobs team worked alongside the National Park Service to deliver a historically sensitive repair and rehabilitation of a seawall at the Statue of Liberty National Monument protecting the island’s perimeter and a constellation of historic structures including the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration. Despite repair and construction challenges, the team maintained the site’s historical integrity while introducing effective innovations to protect this treasured landmark for generations. Did you know that the U.S. state of Wisconsin is home to a whopping 15,000 lakes—including two of the world's largest lakes as borders?! 🤯 Surprisingly, despite the nearby natural water sources, water supply has been a challenge in Wisconsin. That’s why Waukesha Water Utility (City of Waukesha) turned to us when faced with steadily declining groundwater supply and naturally occurring carcinogenic radium contamination to find an alternative water supply for the 70,000 people that rely on their service. #OurJacobs has helped prepare the first-ever water diversion with return flow application under the Great Lakes St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact, overseeing the permit approvals, transition from groundwater to Lake Michigan water, and design of treatment improvements and monitoring for returning treated wastewater to the Lake Michigan tributary.
