It was an incredible night at The Stewpot Alliance Spring Party on Thursday, May 2 at The Henry. We’re thrilled to announce a “record-breaking” Soup’s On check handed over to The Stewpot by The Alliance, Soup’s On 2024 chairs, and Brian C. Luscher in the amount of $598,000. We couldn’t be more grateful to all of our generous supporters. Nearby at the check presentation were 2025 chairs Buddy Jordan, Isabell Novakov-Higginbotham, and Trey Higginbotham! We can’t wait to see the amazing things to come. Read all about it at https://lnkd.in/giK22DpW. An urban pioneer responding to the unmet and emerging needs of the homeless and at-risk of Dallas for more than 40 years
About us
Since 1975, The Stewpot, a community ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas, has offered a safe haven for homeless and at-risk individuals of Dallas, providing resources for basic survival needs as well as opportunities to start a new life. Over the years, it has evolved from a soup kitchen into a social services hub that serves the needs of the unhoused, helps unhoused individuals become housed, and provides resources to individuals and families at risk for homelessness. The Stewpot serves approximately 12,000 extremely-low-to-moderate income individuals and families every year through five program areas: Stabilization, Housing, Nutritional Support, Education, and Enrichment.

Thank you George W. Bush Presidential Center for recognizing us with the George Bush Institute Trailblazer Citation Award at the 2024 Forum on Leadership. We're humbled and grateful for our staff, volunteers, and supporters who make what we do happen for those homeless and at-risk in the heart of Dallas.
At the 2024 Forum on Leadership, the Bush Center recognized those actively working to make the world a better place. Indra Nooyi, former Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, was honored with the 2024 George W. Bush Medal for Distinguished Leadership. This award is given to those who promote change within the global community. Nooyi is a role model to women and immigrants alike. She’s long been celebrated for her professional accomplishments and her empowering messages of inclusivity. The Stewpot, which provides a safe haven and basic survival needs for homeless and at-risk individuals in Dallas, was recognized with the George W. Bush Institute Trailblazer Citation. Brenda Ewing Snitzer, Executive Director of the Stewpot, accepted the citation. Hannah Sklar (she/hers), Executive Director of Creamos, accepted the George W. Bush Institute Citation on behalf of Creamos. Creamos is a multiservice non-profit with a focus on the intersection between gender-based violence and economic security. #ForumOnLeadership Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gZQuHHsc

As we seek to make sense of the dangerous world around us and our nation's role, the George W. Bush Presidential Center this week will host our annual Forum on Leadership. This two-day event in Dallas will bring together leading advocates, government officials, business leaders, and policy experts in a series of conversations centered on promoting freedom, opportunity, and leadership. This year, among other leaders, our program will feature the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency William J. Burns, former chairwoman and CEO of PepsiCo Indra Nooyi, as well as nonprofit leaders Brenda Ewing Snitzer of The Stewpot and Hannah Sklar of Creamos. I'm honored to moderate a panel titled "Human Rights and the New Global Order", featuring Ambassador Mark Green, Will Inboden, and Nicole Bibbins Sedaca. Please join our livestream starting 9:00 AM (CDT) on Thursday, April 18th.

Today's CFT for Business National Volunteer Month Project at The Stewpot had volunteers from four of our companies including impact captains Will Smith from D Magazine, Kameron Hampton from DHD Films and Jenna Dillenback Broach from Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, as well as great colleagues Amanda Kolle, Elspeth Nelson, and Elizabeth Corley from Communities Foundation of Texas. We helped prepare boxes for their weekend food delivery and distribution and it was quite the workout. Huge thanks to Adrienne Nicholson and the team of dedicated heroes that work to serve our neighbors at The Stewpot. We are grateful to have been there again this year! #CFT4B #DoTheGood #NVM2024

The Soup’s On 2024 fundraiser celebrations abounded at this year’s Patron Party - Jeanne Prejean highlighting the occasion in MySweetCharity. As she mentions when “Chef Brian C. Luscher, longtime supporter/2023 Soup’s On! Co-Chair Christy Coltrin and Luncheon Co-Chairs Leah Jordan and Eric Swindle and Michelle and Rudy Segura” were asked if the $100,000 match was met for the event, she remarked they “were smiling.” Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/g3yBjEUZ #doinggood #soupson2024 #soupson #stewpotdallas #endhomelessness

“So we don’t go to the margins to make a difference. You go to the margins, so that the folks there make you different. And that’s how we achieve, I think, a sense of kinship and a connection…The Stewpot goes to the margins, and other voices suddenly get heard. And we’re all enriched because of it.” Father Gregory Boyle's words from Soup’s On 2024 were inspiring.
